Skywarn Spotter Training Workshop
Saturday, March 27, 1:00 - 3:00 PM
"Some people are weather wise, but most are otherwise"- Ben Franklin. Please come and join us as the National Weather Service-Detroit Office and the Detroit Public Library's Business Science & Technology Department present "SKYWARN SPOTTER TRAINING WORKSHOP". Topics covered in this important workshop include: Importance of storm spotters; How to spot and report severe weather events and tornadoes; Lightning and flood safety; How to keep you and your loved ones safe during severe weather; National Weather Service severe weather forecast and warning products; meteorology of severe weather. To register for this FREE workshop, please contact the Business, Science & Technology Department at 313-833-1450. Workshop participants must be at least 13 years old. Refreshments and handouts will be provided to all workshop participants. (Note: Please use above text for both posters and fliers).

2010 Tutor Training Workshop

Detroit Public Library's Detroit Reads! Program offers tutor trainining workshop to dedicated adult volunteers to tutors for our adult learners. Our tutor certification requires 16 hours of training. Tutor training workshops are held at DPL's Main Library. All training and tutoring materials are free. Tutors are asked to commit two hours per week to tutoring a learner. Tutoring sessions are held at Detroit Public Library's Main Library or branches during library operating hours.
