Award-winning author Sharon Flake's dynamic writing style has allowed her to "write from the gut," and feel what other people (her characters) might be feeling. This empathetic approach to characterization is quite obvious in all of Flake's characters. She allows them to direct the trajectory of the story which results in a more realistic and appealing narrative to readers. Her latest project, Pinned, explores issues of self-discovery, friendship, and what it means to be different.
